We all met for the first
time since before Christmas on Saturday the 2nd of January 2010. As we neared
Barlborough it started to snow and snow and snow!
We shot at a 2d picture of a Christmas turkey at 60 yards lobbing the arrows
up and down onto the target....straight shots skidded across the frozen surface
for about 120 yards!!!! Some points had to be dug out of the earth as the
cold and sudden deceleration ( negative acceleration for you engineers out
there) by the frozen ground seemed to upset the glues! We shot for an hour
or so and then ran off home, well Sandra and I went to the Rose and Crown
for a warm up wine, beer, jacket potato and stilton burger. Altogether 8 of
us turned up to brave the elements, some with shiny new Christmas present
bows :)
