Sarurday the 2nd of October was a beautiful day, it had rained every day leading up to the day and writing this on the Sunday afterwards it is raining again! It was a wonderful gift to have a window in the atrocious weather to allow us to shoot on the lawns by Barlborough Hall for the first time.

Barlborough Hall School (BHS) has its own Archery Club run by Dave Wilson. After shooting at the Hall grounds for nearly two years I finally managed to say Hi to Dave and compare notes. We decided Saturday the 2nd October might be a good day to host a combined shoot. It was also an open day for prospective parents to visit the school so a busy day was in prospect.

The Sherwood Forresters assembled at our end of the grounds at 9 am, I was a little slow getting the field prepared with Dave, Malcolm and Jim. At around 9.30ish we marched down the quarter mile road to the school, a handsome sight of 17 archers looking like a mediaeval skirmishing mob.

The day went very well, the School archers enjoyed themselves, as did we. I must say the children were a credit to the school and their parents. Parents enjoyed the demonstration of English Longbow Archery too, especially the 'Agincourt Volley'.

Some of us wore mediaeval style clothing, Sandra and Yvonne are pictured with the Hall as a magnificent backdrop.

A big thanks to the school for letting us shoot with them.
